It's a shortie this month - there's only so much you can say about packing boxes and cleaning cupboards!!

June 2007

Packing abound, it's amazing how much stuff two people can accumulate!

I don't know why, but I'm keeping all those university books (just can't put 'em down). And all those old concert programmes (always important for world peace). And, the leather trousers? Hmmmm….

Anyway, in amongst all those boxes, we got to meet the folk who bought the flat - I feel safe and happy in the knowledge that we are leaving our wee palace in good hands…is it a healthy thing to think of a house in such an animate way? Who knows, but it felt right!

Unlike a Monday in June when I got done for speeding - that definitely didn't feel right! Bloody annoying actually. Doing 80 in a 70 zone - £60 and three spots on my license - what a bummer!

Anyway, on the last day of June, twelve years and two months after we moved in, we moved out!

I tried my hardest to cry, to be melancholy, to think about all the 'good times' and the 'bad times', but no, no tears would come!

Funny that!

I think it even now and think, 'how can it be that I don't miss that?' Then I realise, it's because I'm here in my mansion (!) surrounded by plaster, gyproc, sawdust, bricks and paint!

What's to miss?

Especially when you consider that the night we moved in, we were surrounded by all our pals and family and ordered pizza, opened champagne, had a fire in the back garden and just loved it! And have done really since we saw the house way back in March.

Indeed, what's to miss?

In fact, it feels like we've been here since sometime in the late fifties!

July 2007

July has really been a time of change. I'm dying to get my guitars out and finish off all those songs for the gigs coming up, but I'm loathed to cover them in all the dust.

I know it wont be long before I can get things back to normal, but I'm really looking forward to getting a couch out and flopping down after dinner in my new kitchen - I think I'll be waiting for some time though.

But, enough about the house…everything else was put on hold in July except for Caitlin's 14th birthday.

As I say every year, I can't believe that she's grown so fast - and I say this as the godmother who introduced her to her first full frontal of a naked male on stage - ! But every so often, I get glimpses of the wee girl and every so often of the woman she'll become. But in between times? Well, like, she's, like, so like a, like, teenager! And, when I remind her of that? Well, she like, reminds me, like, in her very like witty way, that she is in fact a, like, TEENAGER!

Ah well, that's me, like, told!

Anyway, I'm off to change into my painting gear so that I can, like, paint my bedroom and build my new bed - very exciting!

Told you I'd keep it brief.

Cheers and happy August
